Lameness Exams: When your pet starts limping, bring your
pet for a lameness exam. Our veterinarian at First Coast
Vets may recommend X-rays after localizing the pain. Based
on lameness exam and X-ray findings may recommend rest and
prescribe non-steroidal anti inflammatory and pain
medications.
-
Nail Trimming: Your pet’s nails can grow too long, which
can lead to nail injuries and nail bed abscesses if not
trimmed regularly. Bring your pets in for routine nail
trims to avoid these complications. Our nail trim pricing
is as follows:
Up to 25 lbs: $19.50
25 to 50 lbs: $24.50
50 to 100 lbs: $29.50
Over 100 lbs: $34.50
In some cases, we may need to administer sedation for
uncooperative pets during nail trimming. Sedation costs
vary based on your pet's size. Nail trims are offered as
an outpatient procedure, and no appointment is necessary

glands is essential, especially if they start scooting.

-
Ear Cleaning: Your pets may require routine ear cleaning
to prevent ear infections especially in dogs who get into
the water frequently or dogs who have skin allergies.

getting ear infection or otitis externa. Ear cleaning cost
is only $24.50
-
Hip X-rays to screen for Hip Dysplasia: Some breeds of
dogs are prone for hip dysplasia. We do recommend taking
hip X-rays in young large breed dogs to screen for hip
dysplasia. Refer to

Parvo treatment: Parvo viral gastroenteritis is a serious
condition in young puppies that can lead to severe
dehydration and death if not treated properly. Clients who
can not afford to get inpatient treatment for parvovirus
illness, First Coast Vets can offer outpatient therapy
with subcutaneous fluid therapy, injectable antiemetics
and antibiotics for 3 to 5 days. Out-patient treatment is
also successful if the patient comes into the hospital
daily for at least 5 days. Refer to this client handout
regarding complete treatment.

Endocrine disease testing and treatment: If you notice any
changes in your pet’s eating, drinking, urination pattern,
change in the body weight and poor skin and coat condition
do not wait too long to bring your pet for endocrine
testing. After getting some information about your pets
behavior at home and doing a complete physical exam, our
First Coast veterinarian may recommend blood tests to
diagnose endocrine diseases like Diabetes Mellitus,
Cushing’s disease, Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism.
Early detection and treatment of these endocrine diseases
